Laws for abortions today states that women have the legal right to obtain an abortion in all 50 states through all 9 months of pregnancy for any reason at all. Abortions are legal but may be restricted by the states to different degrees. Some states have passed laws to restrict late term abortions, require parental notification for minors, and mandate the disclosure of abortion risk information to patients prior to the procedure. Nearly half of all pregnancies among American woman are unintended and 4 in 10 of these end in abortions. 9 in 10 abortions occur in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Each year 2% of women aged 15-44 have an abortion, and half have had at least one previous abortion. 1 in 10 women will have an abortion by age 20, one in 4 by age 30 and 3 in 10 by age 45. 18% of US women obtaining abortions are teenagers: those aged 15-17 obtain 6% of all abortions, teens 18-19 obtain 11%, and teens younger than 15 obtain .4%. Women in their 20’s account for more then half of all abortions: women aged 20-24 obtain 33% of all abortions, and women aged 25-29 obtain 24%. In 2008, 1.21 million abortions were performed. The reasons women give for having an abortion underscore their understanding of the responsibilities of parenthood and family. ¾ women say they can’t afford a child, another ¾ say having a baby would interfere with work, school, or the ability to care for dependents. ½ say they don’t want to be a single parent or are having problems with their husband or partner. After knowing all these facts and statistics I plan to change the abortion laws. I believe abortion should be illegal to women unless they have a serious medical condition. Any other excuse such as: being to young, not having enough money, being a single mother, or not able to take responsibility should not be used to have an abortion. My law will state that abortion is completely illegal which means it cannot be practiced in any state not unless the women has a medical condition and the only way it is allowed to be done is in the hospital. That way no planned parenthood or any other “underground” places are allowed to perform this. The reason why abortions should be illegal is because you know what you are doing if you are having unprotected sex, and if you decide to involve yourself in that activity you know what after effects
on their own. An abortion is the medical process of ending a pregnancy so it does not result in the birth of a baby. It is also known as a “termination” or a “termination pregnancy”. Depending on how many weeks you’ve been pregnant, the pregnancy is either ended by either taking medications or having a surgical procedure. An abortion is not the same thing as a miscarriage, where the pregnancy ends without medical intervention. Society View of Abortion Supporters of abortion and early activists…
Abortion is a topic that is constantly debated worldwide. I believe that is should not be happening anywhere because you are killing innocent babies and it does not benefit anyone. I feel as if the law should change so that abortion is illegal. These three natural law philosophers: St. Thomas Aquinas, R.M Dworkin and Plato would agree with my newly changed law. St. Thomas Aquinas was greatly influenced by Christian Teachings. The bible to him was basically law. Aquinas dealt…
Abortion: A Never Ending Controversy Approximately 205 million abortions occur each year worldwide. Over a third are unintended and about a fifth end in abortion. What is abortion? Abortion is the termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus prior to viability. In other words, it is when a mother decides she doesn’t want to go through with her pregnancy. Abortion in today’s society has become very political. You are either pro-choice, pro-life, and there doesn’t…
The debate on abortion and paternal rights has been a big issue in the United States dated back to the early twentieth century. Fathers feel as though their parental right over the fetus before birth is being deprived. The main issue is that society views the fathers as of the lesser group of power when it comes to abortion. Many cases were brought about to the supreme court on the issue of abortion and the rights of the woman rather than the man. In 1972, the case of Roe vs. Wade was argued before…
Should Abortion Be Legal? Many people ponder the topic of abortion. It continues to be an increasing controversy between the Pro-Choice activists and the Pro-Life activists. It has been brought up in many religious and political debates all over the country. Women should definitely have the ability to control what they do with their body. One of these choices is whether or not to bear a child. Abortion is a problem of personal freedom. Should the government decide when a woman is to have children…

Marketing The Issue Over Time-Abortion Abortion has its traces in history for as far back as ancient Greece, but only over the past two centuries has the issue of abortion taken center stage. Whether politically, religiously, or morally, abortion has become a hot topic of debate that has progressively changed shape over the years.
