After watching the video “A few things I learned from Craigslist” I find it crazy that after creating a company like this, that Craig is just a customer service representative. But even with that, he probably has one of the most important jobs out there. Along with all the crap from customers he gets, he says he thoroughly enjoys it, especially since he created the business himself. For me it would be extremely hard to do this. Building up a business takes a ton of work and basically handing it over to another individual, is something I couldn’t see myself doing. I really liked the mentality of his business and how they treat others they want to be treated. The key here is that it’s not what the public thinks but rather the individual. It’s on a one to one basis. Businesses today should practice this more often, too many are more worried about profits and revenues. The business world would be a whole lot different if more businesses followed this and the economy would greatly recover I believe. Newmark business values are incredible: “We can do well as a company financially by doing good stuff for people.” That is what business is all about. People helping people is a magical thing. The world would be a better place if business owners knew this. Ethics are huge in today’s world and businesses that respect those ethics often flourish because of their perception from the public.
