a comparison of three studies from a completed matrix

Introduction
The three authors that I will compare in this paper is Wright & Pandey whose research sought to answer the question does structure Matter? Emery & Barker whose article sought to examine different leadership styles on job satisfaction and finally, Julia Houch whose article on shared leadership vs vertical leadership examined employee integrity.
The three articles each presented very strong rationale and yet used different styles of research study designs to present the information. Qualitative research explores the meaning behind why individuals perform a certain way. Quantitative research explore relationships among different variables. Mixed methods combines qualitative and quantitative research methods.
In the preceding paper article 1, article 2 and article 3 will be compared in areas such as purpose, strength of case, research questions, sample populations and limitations.
Purpose
Purpose is define as the reason something is done. In the three articles the authors have examine a certain hypothesis at a doctoral level and validated the researched elements for validity and bias thus creating a paper that increases knowledge in a particular field.
The purpose of article one was to test paradigms in transformational leadership in regards to public organizations and the hierarchical structures. The authors Wright & Pandey built a strong case in which they provided an argument supporting the idea that when a employee performance is motivated to perform in a satisfactory manner when transformational leadership is in place. When an organization has structural barriers employees are less productive.

The purpose of article two was to show that an employee’s customer service skills is directly affected by how he or she feels about themselves in relation to their job. The authors Emory & Barker further sought to prove that the employees feeling about his job can be connected to the type of leadership practiced in the organization.

The purpose of article three was to explore the effectiveness of an organizations effectiveness under an umbrella of shared leadership within team leadership. Julia Houch built a strong case supporting the ideal that employees were motivated and behaviors were changed when shared leadership was practiced within the organizations.

All three of these articles presented a clear purpose for the research as well as building a strong case in support of the purpose. Research questions Research questions are used to validate the purpose. Research questions allows the author to present a somewhat basis for proof. “Your research question is the most critical part of your research -- it defines the whole process, it guides your arguments and inquiry, and it provokes the interests of the reviewer. “ (chsbs.cmich.edu)

In article one the authors presented five strong research questions to aide in the validation of the research. The questions seemed to bit a bit redundant and was not really necessary for the topic in question. In article three the authors presented less questions for consideration. The questions were strong and probed directly into the hypothesis they were attempting to prove. The third article did not hesitant in addressing why the research was presented and what she sought to uncover.

When comparing the three articles and the questions they presented. I would say that the third article worked best for me in the choice of questions that the author chose. I believe it was because my interest was in her particular research more so than the other two articles. I understand that in most research it may work to your advantage when more questions are presented for review this allows a reviewer to have more information, however I also believe it depends on the way you learn and your ability to think through what is
