There are eight (8) essential beliefs that I posses that is the foundation of my belief system, therefore I have founded a church called the San Joaquin Valley Bible Church that possess these same beliefs. I will do a comparative study of my eight foundational beliefs with that of the Hindu religion. First of all my eight foundational beliefs are as follows:
• I believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible written Word of God
• I believe that there is One God, eternally existent in Three Persons; God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
• I believe in the Blessed Hope, which is the rapture of the Church of God, which is in Christ, at His return.
• I believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance, faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ, and baptism in water.
• We believe that regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
• We believe that regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
• We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing for the human body in answer to believing prayer.
• We believe that the baptism in the Holy Ghost, according to Acts 2:4 is given to believers who ask for it.
• We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by Whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy and separated life in this present world 1. I believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible written Word of God.
When I say inspired, I am referring to the fact that, I believe God divinely influenced the human authors of the Scriptures in such a way that what they wrote was the very Word of God. In the context of the Scriptures, the word “inspiration” simply means “God-breathed.”
When I say Infallible I am referring to the fact that what the Bible says, is wholly useful and true. It is totally trustworthy as a guide to salvation and the life of faith and will not fail to accomplish its purpose.
The Holy Bible was is a unique account of history, comprised of 66 books, written over approximately 1600 years, by at least 40 distinct authors. The Bible is divided into two sections: The Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament contains 39 books and was written from approximately 1500 to 400 BC. The New Testament contains 27 books and was written from approximately 40 to 90 AD. The Jewish Bible called the Tenach is the same as the Christian Old Testament, accept for its book arrangements. The original Old Testament was written in Hebrew, with some Aramaic, while the original New Testament was written in Greek.
The word Testament literally means covenant. Therefore there is an old covenant and a new covenant. According to Webster’s dictionary a covenant is an agreement between two parties in which both parties must do their part in order to fulfill the agreement. In the old covenant in order to receive the favor and goods from God one must obey to a science a litany and plethora of rules. When a rule or law was broken (sin) an animal (preferably lamb) sacrifice was required for the remission or forgiveness of that sin. In the new covenant when a rule or law was broken (sin) on simply needed to first have accepted Jesus the Christ as the human lamb that was crucified for all past, present, and future sin and two repent of the sin.
In Hinduism the VEDAS are the most important and sacred texts. According to “An Anthology of Living Religions” by Mary Pat Fisher & Lee W. Baily, the Vedas is the foundational scruti texts for most forms of Sanatana Dharma. Scholars think that they were written down by about 1500 BCE, but represent a much older orally transmitted tradition. According to Hindu belief the Vedas were heard by the rishis and then written down in 3102 BCE at beginning of the Kali Yuga, the current dark age, by the sage Vyasa. The language is terse poetic Sanskrit, whose sounds are said to evoke the
