Exploration Research Paper
In this research paper you will conduct research and write an essay based a one question. The purpose and rubric are at the end of this package.
This will be a 4 step process that you must complete. A student may not move on to the next step unless the previous step has been completed. Your teacher must approve of each step.
Step 1: Research – Your research must be organized and shown to your teacher. Remember to use reliable resources, NO WIKIPEDIA. You may organize your research in the following ways:
a) Cornell notes
b) Three column memory key
c) Mind Map
d) Standard – organized headings and bullet point form notes.
Step 2: Skeleton
The template is provided in the package. You must write your thesis, evidence supporting that claim and a sentence or two summarizing your conclusion.
Step 3: Draft 1
This will be peer-edited. Your fellow peers will be looking for structure, spelling / grammar, and evaluating your argument (does it make sense according to factual evidence)
Step 4: Write an amazing research paper.
Take in the feedback and make the necessary changes. It is a good idea to get it proof read by someone else before you submit it in to turnitin.com

Exploration Research Paper
Purpose: Compare two explorers and explain why they were unsuccessful or successful.
Important notes:
1) Your explorers can be from any time period. You may choose to have one modern explorer compared to an explorer from the past.
2) Remember not to pick more or less than two explorers.
3) Your explorers can be both unsuccessful and successful, or you could have one be successful and the other unsuccessful.
4) You must provide a bibliography. You must include two primary documents. One for each explorer.
5) It must be submitted through turnitin.com
6) Your paper must have a thesis, multiple body paragraphs with evidence, and a conclusion.
Due Date:
You will be give class time to work on the assignment.
The timeline to have the final paper copy is January 17th, 2014.
