Why I would like to be on the Wreath Team On the back side of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier there is a message that states, “Here rests in honored glory an American soldier known but to God.” Even though their names have been lost, their sacrifice and bravery will never be forgotten. I would love to be able to be a part of the Wreath ceremony and honor those people who have fought and continue to fight today.
All through growing up and even now, I think of my brother as a hero. Before graduating high school my brother decided to join the army. He was active in the Army for many years before he took a job training soldiers at Fort McCoy. Many other people in my family have been in the military including: my uncle, my grandpa, and a very close family friend that I consider family. I look up to all of them for all the unselfishness they have and the sacrifices they have made. This past summer I went to South Dakota with my family. As a part of our trip we went to Mount Rushmore and got to listen to a beautiful, patriotic speech about our country. To close out the speech, they had everyone that had been in the service or is currently in the service come down to the stage to state their name and what branch they are in. My family friend was one of them to get called down and he said that it meant a lot to get recognized. To me, it was absolutely breathtaking to see the amount of people who are have fought or are currently active.
