Fitzpatrick, Laura. “Why Do Women Still Earn Less Than Men?” Time U.S. 20 Apr. 2010: n. pag. Google.com. Web. 26 Mar. 2012. <http://www.time.com////,8599,1983185,00.html>. 1) The main point of this article is to prove that women gain less than men. Apparently women only earn seventy-seven cents for every dollar a man makes. Women earn less than men in 20 out of 25 occupational fields and are treated as someone lower than a men. Men are more likely to get accepted into a high-leveled college and advance in fields of technology.
2) Time Magazine is sponsored by CNN and has attracted millions of readers. They produce a non-bias yet informational view on worldly issues; one being women’s underpaid hours. Time also is passed out at many schools as an educational magazine to update young adults on world problems.
3) The author does not have a biased opinion but rather informative statistics. Author Fitzpatrick did a lot of research to come to the conclusion that women are oppressed in the work fields. The website does not have any biased pieces unless it is an opinion-based survey or statistics.
4) This source is reliable for the economic and business portion of how women are mistreated in the work force. I can use this source as a significant piece of evidence that times are no different now than before the Suffrage movement. I can place the date of when these statistics were taken and compare them to the women from the 1900s and conclude that America still has not been a fully equal-opportunities country.
Sandy, Candace, Dawn Marie Daniels, and Jarralynnne Agee, Dr. “Overcoming Hardships.” A Fro Articles. Ed. Carl Hruza. Afro Articles, 25 Mar. 2012. Web. 26 Mar. 2012. <http://www.afroarticles.com/dashboard//Hardships...-How-Women-Can-Turn-Tears-to-Triumph/>. 1) This article gives a few different point of views of how women face many different problems from the pressures of society. For example, women face depression, obesity, and the fact they need to “beat the odds”. This causes immense breakdowns and most women fear society’s expectations because they do not believe they can meet expectations. These are real-life instances of women who have had personal stories of either getting beaten by superior men or face daily struggles to become an independent woman.
2) This source is mainly reliable because the authors have formerly published a book known as “Tears to Triumph” and are doing research in dealing with oppressed women. This site is on a blog that anyone can leave a comment but the authors must come from a journalist-based background. The company started in 2005 once they realized that people needed a voice.
3) The author is bias towards relieving women from discrimination because they have witnessed first-on attacks to women on a daily basis. These people are eager to see people’s lives change once the word is spread and something is done to protect these ladies. Although the author is biased, it gives relatively accurate facts about today’s society in a woman’s eyes which is very beneficial for my argument.
4) I am going to use this source to give an emotional appeal and the social aspects of women across the nation. The personal experiences expressed can convey that, indeed, women are still being oppressed. This article can improve my argument that although women have gained many new rights, they still face several circumstances in which they are discriminated against.
“10 Surprising Statistics on Women.” CollegeTimes. CollegeTimes, 25 Mar. 2012. Web. 26 Mar. 2012. <http://collegetimes.us/-surprising-statistics-on-women-in-the-workplace/>. 1) The main points of this article are that women are mistreated in the most outrageous things such as education and their occupation. The higher a women’s education is, the less she is likely to make in the long run. Women only make around seventy-seven cents for every dollar a man makes, and women only make up
Exam Question: How far do sources B and C support the attitude to women shown in source A? Source A shows a man and wife in their house; we can infer from the source that the husband is upset, and perhaps grieving, because he is leaning on the mantelpiece and covering his eyes with his hand. The black-lined letter suggests that someone close to the man has died; he is perhaps shocked at the news. In the picture, is also a woman who is probably the man’s wife. She clings to his arm, with a sympathetic…
disagreed with her choices made it known. Source one strongly suggests Elizabeth was a successful leader. This is implied by Elizabeth herself as she thought she had ‘the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and stomach of a king.’ Elizabeth was underestimated and while she did not like the thought of everyone seeing her differently, she used it to her advantage to make people see she was more capable than most. Furthermore, since the source was written and said by Elizabeth in 1588…

being. However although there was the idea of the Angel in the house, the reality for some women wasn’t all that altruistic. In the 19th century we tend to refer to the "Private" and "Public" sphere, the private sphere being your household-where the woman would normally be- and the public sphere where the men went to work as MPs and other professions. Although women tended to stay in the private sphere, it can only be said of some of the middle class women and most definitely all of the upper class…

(Cambridge: Harvard University Press, 1936, 19 pages), both articles talk about the Massachusetts case of Puritan woman Anne Hutchinson, but the case is presented differently in each article. “The Massachusetts Bay Colony Case Against Anne Hutchinson” is a primary source since it is the court transcript and only contains the dialogue, but “Anne Hutchinson versus Massachusetts” is a secondary source and in this article, the author analyzes the case against Anne. In Newcomb’s article, he gives a detailed…
New women Before the 1920’s, men and women each had certain roles and expectations set by the general society that kept men in a more powerful, dominant position. However, through the 1920’s, a ‘new woman’ emerged and showed women in a new light. These ladies were starting to break society’s original rules and be independent. Ultimately, this time period consisted of women expressing and enjoying themselves by beginning careers that they were interested in, wearing clothes that were flashy and…
endeavor to prove that woman has no right to "open her mouth for the dumb," than it now is that judges should have sat on the trials of witches, and solemnly condemned nineteen persons and one dog to death for witchcraft. But to the letter. It says, "We invite your attention to the dangers which at present seem to threaten the FEMALE CHARACTER with wide-spread and permanent injury." I rejoice that they have called the attention of my sex to this subject, because I believe if woman investigates it, she…
