The lecture in week 4 was about punctuation. In this lecture, I learnt that punctuation, in fact, plays a very important role in letter writing in our everyday lives. The reason is that, by using the correct punctuation, it shows our readers that we care as punctuation helps to clarify the meaning of our message. Also, it helps us to demonstrate that we are well-educated. However, the younger generations do not like to use proper grammar and punctuation, especially when text messaging (Prigg 2012). For instance, they rarely use full stop and comma in their sentences. Besides, the combinations of punctuation help in invoking emotions into an emotionless sentence (Martin 2012). In week 5, the topic of the lecture was about interpersonal communication. This video had taught me a various ways to effectively communicate with people who are difficult to deal with as well as how to handle conflict assertively. In week 3, Rob gave a very insightful lecture about intercultural communication. I find that this topic is very important because it would be useful in my real world situation especially in a multicultural society like Australia. I learnt that in order to understand a culture, we have to first understand the behaviors,
