To the future he futureThe world can be a wonderful place especially at Yellowstone during late June, but it isn’t that pretty when you’re staring at a pile of vomit. Our dodge Durango was so loaded that it road like a boat and I got car sick. My boyfriend josh was standing behind me and holding my hair enjoying the view while I threw up on my shoes. With only 4 miles to go, I cowgirled up and hoped for the best. As soon as we got to are camp sight ever thing went from yack to yuck. I stepped directly into a pile of bear poo.
“Look out for bear scat”, my dad said.
Great! Thanks dad, I thought, as I looked at the beauty of Yellowstone the smell of the pine trees was very plentiful after you got over the smell of bear poo. And the sounds of the birds and squirrels chattering was relaxing enough to drown out the sound of my sister screaming ,my mom yelling at her, and my boyfriend and dad fighting over how and where to set up the tents and where to unpack everything. After we were all settled my boyfriend asked if anyone wanted to go for a hike. And us being country kids none of us had ever gone on a hike. We all laughed.
“What” said josh
“I guess it’s worth a try” my dad said
“How about upper falls? “Josh asked
And dad said with a sigh, “I guess that’s as good as any”
But under his breath I heard him tell mom “maybe well get lucky and he’ll get eaten by a bear”.
So we packed what we needed including water and trail mix. As we hiked up uncle toms trail and came down to fishing bridge and of course my dad wanted to check it out the view. It was amazing and the water was so clear you could see the bottom. But I got bored so I my boyfriend and my best friend Gabe went up toward upper falls. And my dad Chloe and my mom stayed back
“Meet us back here”. Said my mom Lucy
But little did we now what was yet to come. We hiked in a line going from my boyfriend me and my best friend. It had rained the day before so it was muddy and I felt my feet sinking with every step I took. Then we got up to the river that was just as clear as the water at fishing bridge. We followed the river toward the cliffs and, water fall. It only took us thirty minutes to get to upper falls. When we got there the sight was phenomenal. We stood 109ft up from the ground. You could the whole park from where we stood. There was camp, the fishing bridge you could even see old faithful. “Look!” josh said with excitement in his voice
“What, what do you see”
“See the cave” said josh
“No”
“C’mon I’ll show you, Gabe you stay here look out for Jimmy Lucy and Chloe, if we don’t come back in twenty minutes come and get us”, josh said
“Why me” said Gabe
“Well do you want to come?” asked josh
“Yeah sure why not” Gabe told josh
“Ok well then let’s go” said josh to both of them
So we climbed down to see what he had seen. And the rocks were so slippery I almost slipped a couple times even though I was wearing heavy grip boots. When we got down, and he showed us the cave he had spotted on from the top of the falls.
“What’s that” Gabe commented
“Looks like old holographics”
“That’s why I like you your smart” josh said
“Awe thanks sweetheart”, she said kissing him on the cheek.
“Quit it with the mushy stuff” said Gabe
“You’re just jealous Gabe”
Suddenly the paintings glowed and a powerful surge shocked the three of us knocking us unconscious. I woke up to josh carrying me piggy back style.
“Where are we?”
“The future” said josh calmly
“No seriously where are we”
“I’m serious the future “, he said
“How did we get here?”
“I don’t know I think it was those paintings” said josh
“You mean holographics”
“Yeah those” he said with a chuckle
“Where’s Gabe”
“I don’t know I don’t think he made it” josh said
“What!”
“I think his back at the waterfall” he said looking back at her
“This is amazing isn’t it?”
“Yes it is” Josh said
