This involves addressing the student’s individual differences and needs. It involves individually planned and systematically monitored arrangements of teaching procedures, adapted equipment and materials, accessible settings and other interventions designed to help learners with special needs achieve a higher level of self-sufficiency and success in school and community than would be available if the student were only given access to a typical classroom education. The education system however has an impact on disabled people and employment in that disabled students are often encouraged studying courses in "life skills" rather than academic areas of study. As a result few disabled people attain qualifications needed to get good jobs Payne (2006).

People with disabilities experience discrimination in the society they live in. The Disabled Persons Act 1986 requires that local authorities give out as much information as possible to disabled people with regards to their needs, but only a few do that (Payne,2006) .This makes it difficult for disabled people “to organize their daily lives in the same way as the rest of the population (Barnes,1990 ).This implies social restrictions brought about by society on people with impairments are highly discriminatory.
