According to certain people, violent video games should be banned; they feel that violent video games are the source of today’s violence amongst children. I strongly disagree with them. Video games, like movies, music and any other form of art, are there to entertain people and to enjoy, not restrict. What most people fail to realize is that the video game industry, like the film industry, is heavily regulated with a strict code of parental guidelines already in place. Even the game consoles to play these violent games have parental controls. What I fail to understand is that some parents believe its okay to give their children 18+ rated games even though they are well under that age, and say that these games are the sources of violence between children. If parents would not let a 10-year-old watch 18+ rated horrors movies, then why would parents let a 10-year-old play Gears of War, or Grand Theft Auto with its gang, crime and sexual content?Addiction:
When I used to play video games hardcore,
I remember that I was literally living to go play another video game. I would go to bed late, and every inclination that I had was to play another video game. I could not take care of myself, I didn't make myself breakfast or any thing like that. My family had a hard time getting me to help them even though they had health and financial issues.

Time Killer:
All my time went down the drain because I played video games. I realize now how much time I have lost when I was younger. I can only imagine how much more skill I could have put into my mind when I was a kid that would help me get along with people, and I could have definitely had an amazing job right now instead of working at a minimum wage job still.

Causes Violence:
Monkey see-Monkey Do. The same applies here. Whether you believe it or not, every thought that goes into your brain, you have a choice to embrace it or reject it. If you do not reject a bad thought, then you will start to believe that it is not a bad thought. Every time you make the excuse "I'm not killing real people" you do not want to reject your behavior and you are searching for a way to justify your poor actions, AKA you are making an excuse. What you allow to go into your core beliefs (or mind), you will not protest against even if it is wrong.

Anti-Social:
For each person, the consequences may be different. For me this one was probably the most significant. I did not have any social skills because I was wasting my time on this activity. I didn't have anything to talk about with someone unless it was video games because I had nothing else in common with ppl.

Unproductively:
It is amazing how much time is wasted on video games, but more than that, you loose precious time that you could have build your life on. For example, one of the reasons that I didn’t go to college was because I was so addicted to video games. I didn’t go outside or learn any skill or trade on my own because I simply would rather play a game.

Mind dulling:
I remember after I played games, I could not think straight afterwards and didn't feel like doing anything. In a way I felt depressed.

Summary:
All of these things are a result of my indulgence into video games. So I would highly recommend everyone NOT to make video games a common activity.Addiction:
