Unit 052: Engage in Personal Development in Children’s and Young Peoples settings
Outcome 1: understand what is required for competence in own work role 052.1.1 My duties and responsibilities within my work role is to establish good working relationships with children and parents and to support all staff and engage in a good staff team ensuring communication in paramount. To prepare and supervise suitable activities to help create and develop a stimulating environment in which children are encouraged to socialise and develop to their full potential. Care for the well-being of children including keeping their noses and faces clean, toileting and administering first aid. I ensure that all children are offered inclusive practise and When we have parents evening I ask the parents if there is anything that they want to discuss regarding their Childs development, I ask the parents if they are happy with the services. This will help me improve on anything that I might need to do so on. Our nursery have HQS Herts Quality Standards they come in and inspect how staff interact with the children, they check the planning of the nursery and watch us as we work as well as watching the children play to see if there is any barriers. The lady that was inspecting the caterpillar room said that our baskets are to full and that the children can’t access them properly; we got some more baskets and separated some of the stuff so that the children had more room to get through stuff. I have an appraisal with the manager once a year to see how I am progressing and things I might need to improve on. Outcome 5: be able to use learning opportunities and reflective practice to contribute to personal development 052.5.1 I went on a safeguarding children course and found it very knowledgeable it has made me aware of how child abuse can be recognised and what to do if I suspect possible child abuse.
