Data gathered has shown that there is no formal layout of the transportation process whereby there is a structure governing on how vehicles are assigned, who is given priority in certain instances amongst others.
2. What are the problems affecting the current transportation process at GGMC? The results from both the interview and questionnaire analysis indicate that there are numerous problems affecting the current transportation process at GGMC. The major problems are:- - A small fleet of vehicles which translates to supply does not meet demand. - The types of vehicles availability do not match the type of vehicle needed for the work - The operation’s objectives of speed and dependability on the usage of vehicles to carry out staff functions will be heightened thus resulting in a better-managed organization.
4. What are the relevant best practices of operations and process management suited for the GGMC’s transportation planning process? Every organization that aims to be the best in their purpose of the establishment will follow guidelines that will allow them to grow. These guidelines are known as best practices. In the case of GGMC, the relevant best practices of operations and process management that is suited for their transportation planning process are as follows:- - The implementation of control and planning tool which can be used to have a handle on the structural implementation of a transportation system.
