There’s just not enough time in a day to get everything done, is what most of us say on a daily basis. I wonder if I make excuses for terrible time management to procrastinate on during what needs to be done. All I know is that eight hour shifts with occasional traveling, some weekend workshops at work, family and now school work, it does feel like there isn’t enough time in a day. The weekends I’m not administering a workshop I’m house cleaning and/or in the grocery store, spending time with my husband and family. In between all of that I know I can get side tracked by checking my Facebook, Twitter, Instagram pages, surfing the web for sales, checking my emails and catching up on reality shows, Young and Restless, and movies on DVR when I should be taking care of important things that need to get done.
I have created a two column to do list. On one side a list of tasks that needs to be done immediately with a time frame and on the other side the least important tasks I would like to see done. I know that self discipline can help me stay focus on tasks, limit the time wasted and ignore the distractions, but I need to learn how to stop waiting until the very last minute to do the things on the list.
As an educational leader I would suggest a to do list and advise anyone to put those Iphones and Androids to use by setting alarms to notify when a due date is approaching and to check the to do list until it becomes natural. I would also stress the importance of self
