The True Coward Margaret Macomber is a very beautiful woman who used to be a model that could charge five thousand dollars per photo shoot. Margaret who is commonly called Margot has been married to Francis Macomber for eleven years. Francis is a tall man who is thirty five years old, he has an athletic body and has accomplished a number of things in his life. He has many fishing records, a passion for motor cycles and motor cars, enjoys duck hunting and dogs, but the thing that is most important to Margot is he is an extremely wealthy man. Margot also knows that Francis is a coward and because he is a coward she runs their relationship and abuses Francis because she knows he is not man enough to leave her. Margot has a previous track record of sleeping around with other men, and this is the reason given for why they went on the safari trip because Margot promises that she will stop sleeping with other men if Francis did the safari. Margot is a mean women who makes fun of Francis and does whatever she can to irritate him. The morning of the lion hunt she sees that Francis is troubled so she asks him what’s wrong, when he tells her that the lions roars had been going on all night and they have been making him nervous and scaring him she replies that he should have waken her up because she would have loved to have heard the lion, not that he should have waken her up so she could have consoled him and helped him with his nerves. After the lions hunt and Francis has proven himself a coward she is very cruel to him, saying that her face is red today because she is embarrassed of her husband’s cowardness. She even goes so far as to sleep with Wilson that night to rub the salt in Francis’s wounds. When she returns from her night with Wilson, Francis questions her about it she blows it off and goes to sleep. The next day she demands to go with them to hunt buffalo because she
