The Mothers Choice “Two-thirds of teen pregnancies occur among teens 18-19 old. As time passes the age of these teens continue to decrease and more teens are becoming pregnant at an even younger age. The U.S. has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the industrialized world – twice as high as in England or Canada, and ten times higher as in Switzerland. Teen pregnancy rates declined between 1991 and 2005 but are on the rise again. Out of all teen pregnancies 57% end in birth, another 14% end miscarriage, while the other 29% choose abortion” (dosomething).The choice of having the baby or not rests in the hands of the mother even if it took both of the parents to make the baby the decision relies on her. They both might have not made a wise decision when they decided to move their relationship to the next level, but keeping the baby should be up to the mother. I believe the choice of keeping the baby rests solely with the mother. The father might want to abort the baby, but it’s the mother’s body. She’s the one who has to deal with the baby no matter what. The mother is the one that will have to nurture the baby and take care of it. It’s different for the father to care of the baby like the mother would, if he decided to just take care of the baby himself. The baby needs its mother when it’s a newborn. If the father wants her to keep the baby he can get fed up and walk away from the situation leaving the mother helpless. It’s all up to the mother whether she wants to keep the baby or not and the only option the father has is if he’s going to be there for her or not. Abortion can damage a woman’s body to not being able to have kids later on. The mother should be able to weigh out her options and choose what she wants to do about everything. Abortion and pregnancy can both damage a young teen’s body but it all falls into the mother’s hands.
