In life there are choices one has to choose whether it is to make a precise or immoral decision. Life can be so trivial and unfulfilling if a person is living their life with no plan for the future and little thought towards helping others. This may seem like an apparent statement, but I come across people every day who have not had the opportunity to realize this truth for themselves. This makes them miserable because they do not know which direction they are headed. I feel very fortunate that the goals I have formed for myself over the past few years are helping me make the most of every opportunity that presents itself, allowing me to live my life with true meaning.
As I left high school, I knew I had to do something to help people because assisting others was my passion. I made a decision to continue my education by going to the University of Mississippi. While deciding on which career path I would follow, I started taking nursing classes. I knew that career choice was one in which I would facilitate in helping others. I began taking the classes and did not do as well as I thought, I should. After becoming very discouraged I changed my degree to Criminal Justice which was a very rewarding decision. My grades were exceptionally well in the Criminal Justice classes. I knew the judgment I made was right. I was afforded the opportunity to complete my internship at the American Correctional Association in Alexandria Virginia, through the Washington Internship Experience Program provided by the University. I graduated from the University of Mississippi with Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and minor in Psychology.
After completing my degree, I did not know exactly what field in Criminal Justice I wanted to fulfill. After several months, I was offered the opportunity to attend the 21week Memphis Police Department Academy. I accepted the offer and with hard work and dedication I successfully completed the academy. Now, I am currently working as a Memphis Police Officer.
