Strategic ambiguity basically choosing your words carefully in order to promote harmony, and it’s a way to deliver difficult messages that softens the blow and makes it possible to work smoothly with people. For example you know the truth is that your classmates idea is really dumb but you have to remember strategic ambiguity and carefully choose your words and tell your classmate that you understand where his idea comes but you’ve seen others pursue that idea and it doesn’t end well so you are just trying to give them a heads up so they won’t set themselves for failure. One of the non-verbal behaviors that I would do in a job interview would be paying close attention to the boss or manager in what they are saying so that they know that I’m really interested in the open position. Another non-verbal behavior that I would do is smiling as they look up just to let them know that I am following along with them.
Five approaches to managing conflict:
1. COMPETING- pursuing your own concerns at another’s expense. For example, knowing your parents are very religious and do not agree with you getting a tattoo but you doing it anyways because you want to pursue that.
2. ACCOMMODATING- neglecting your own concerns in order to satisfy the concerns of others.
For example, wanting to get a new puppy but as you listen to your parents talk about it harming your little siblings you satisfy them and not get the puppy.
3. AVOIDING- pursuing neither your own or those of your opponent, not
