The Crash September 22, 2004, Oceanic flight 815 carries a full load of passengers. Mid-way through this exhausting flight from Sydney, Australia to Los Angeles, California, the ride suddenly becomes extremely bumpy due to unexpected turbulence. Immediately the pilot speaks over the intercom frantically asking all passengers to stay seated and buckled. As the passengers begin to nervously wonder what is happening, a painfully loud bang rings their ears. The plane has just ripped into two pieces and is now barreling towards Earth’s surface. Awakening with a huge gasp of air, Dr. Jack Shepard (Matthew Fox) lies on the beach in a daze of the events that have just occurred. Looking around him in awe, Dr. Shepard (Matthew Fox) realizes the situation he now faces. Oceanic flight 815 has crash landed on an island in the middle of an ocean! Instinctively, Jack Shepard (Matthew Fox) uses his medical back round to start helping passengers who have been injured in the brutal crash. Not knowing where to start, Jack (Matthew Fox) sprints to the first victim he lays eyes upon. A middle aged man has been impaled by a large piece of shrapnel. While deciding what he should do, Dr. Shepard (Matthew Fox) tries to calm the hysteric victim down and shouts for help. Gathering a team together to hold the impaled man down, Jack (Matthew Fox) knows he has to pull the huge piece of shrapnel out of the man’s opened stomach.
