Ronaldo is bound to take on the hobby of playing soccer because of the poor wealth that he is forced to accommodate. This sport brings hope to his life, prosperity to his poverty, and conviction to pursue his passion within the game. The passion that provokes Ronaldo’s will and determination to become a soccer player starts with the hard work he puts in as a young child. A workaholic can better explain his dedication, and Ronaldo now turns into a machine that cannot be stopped. Now at the age of 17, Ronaldo is spotted by the prestigious club, Manchester United, and the dream of becoming a professional soccer player is turning into a reality. Through Manchester United, Ronaldo is able to develop into an amazing dribble of the ball, manipulating the shots he takes into a powerful force, and single handily winning games for his team. Now playing for Real Madrid, Ronaldo blows the minds of many spectators, and his life story can only re-iterate that he is the best soccer player in the world. On the other hand, Messi is the only soccer player standing in the way of Ronaldo being the best, and some might even say even that Messi is the best soccer player in world. The only reason Messi is considered as the best player in the world stands with all of his trophies and accomplishments he has achieved. Messi is the first football player in history to win four FIFA/Ballons d'Or, all of which he won consecutively, as well as the first to win three European Golden Shoe awards. Messi has won six La Ligas, two Copas del Rey, five Supercopas de España, three UEFA Champions Leagues, two UEFA Super Cups and two Club World Cups. With all these accolades upon the shoulders of one soccer player, one can only testify to call him the best in the world, right? One man of great importance does testify in Messi’s defence and this man goes by the name of Sepp Blatter (FIFA President). When asked the constantly repeated question, “who is better, Ronaldo or Messi?” Sepp Blatter simply responds by calling Messi the best player in the world. Messi, now oozing with lots of talent, and even has the FIFA president on his side; one can only say that Messi is truly the best player in the world, right? Sadly enough, this aspirational opinion of Messi being the best player in the worl is wrong because Ronaldo is currently playing, and not retired. The first argument must start with the accolades of Messi being well decorated with lots of trophies, because Ronaldo is also well decorated with the glory of winning. Ronaldo is the first player playing in England to win all four main PFA and FWA awards, doing so in 2007. In 2008, Ronaldo won the Ballon d'Or. He placed second in the Ballon d'Or in 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2012. He is awarded the European Golden Shoe in both 2008 and 2011. In 2008, he won three of the four main PFA and FWA trophies and is named the FIFA World Player of the Year, FIFPro Player of the Year, World Soccer Player of the Year, and the Onze d'Or. So, Ronaldo is just as decorated in trophies as Messi, if not Ronaldo is actually more decorated than Messi. Another point that can be brought up determines the positioning of both players. Since Messi is known for his astonishing goal scoring abilities it is only because he plays as a striker for his club and country. Ronaldo, on the other side of things, plays as a winger and is known for the same goal scoring abilities as Messi, but in soccer there is a contradiction for the way these two players should be playing. As a striker, you are given the task of being a pure goal scorer, with the only intent to be the ball into the back of the net.
