Domestic Terrorism
What kind of country have we become? Why should we be afraid of ourselves? The U.S. Homeland Security states that they have no problem with terrorist. In New York City, New York, within a week at least 5 men were arrested with the charges of plotting terrorist attacks in America. Why Should we be afraid of our own American citizens? What kind of country would we be if we were afraid to the people to the right and left of us? Our worry should be for the other countries who are plotting the war against America.
As told in the Economist (London, England) there have been at least five men plotting terrorist attacks against America. On September 29th Najibullah Zazi, a 24-year-old Afghan immigrant, pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction in New York. On September 23rd Michael Finton was charged with trying to blow up the federal building in Springfield, Illinois. A Jordanian was charged with attempting to destroy a Dallas skyscraper, and on the same day new charges were brought against three men in North Carolina for planning to attack a Marine base. Since the 9/11 attack; more than 23 publicly known terrorist plots have been foiled, according to the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think-tank. In part, this is thanks to niftier anti-terrorism tactics and better co-operation between government agencies.
Although in a 2009 article written by, Robert K. Ackerman Homeland Security is on very high alert since the 9/11 attack. Homeland Security has arrested over 200 people in the last year and a half. We have spent over 5 billion dollars to upgrade homeland Security since the September 11, 2001. The threat to the U.S. homeland is more varied than when the Department of Homeland Security was founded in the wake of the September 11, 2001, attacks, according to the department's outgoing secretary. While the group that launched the attack remains a primary issue, other organizations have emerged as potential malefactors to the U.S. Homeland. And, the possibility of an attack on the homeland using weapons of mass destruction still is a major concern
I Think we should spend time dealing with domestic terrorism, on the other hand I think we have spent enough money on Homeland Security, and we should focus more on the outside threats. In an article that Eileen Sullivan wrote, she said that for the next five years terrorism will be very unstable. I think if we don't act fast we will be too late and we will be invaded and taken over because we are
