16-1.1 Explain the aims and importance of learning provision for numeracy development.

Children need to start learning the basic math skills as it is essential part in their lives. With math, children learn to reason and to connect ideas reasonably. It is important to give children the support and knowledge they need so that they can use it confidently and it will raise their self esteem in their settings and can use it in their lives and continuously throughout their life as a natural progression. Schools will teach children to learn various methods and techniques to be able to reach the correct answer. The target is to get children to adapt and solve a mathematical problem, independently, using a method that suits them. They can then develop their learning to improve their knowledge and apply it to real life situations; such as counting numbers and adding them up so when they go shopping they know how much money they have and how much they can spend.

If they were unable use maths in their daily lives they will struggle and can get themselves in to financial struggles in the future or it can make them disorganised as they won’t be able to tell the time, have a routine or timetable. When you use maths then you understand why you need it. Math is one of the most important subjects of the National Curriculum, as it is a key part of our everyday lives.

Some of the aims for children are:

Solve problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication or division
Know by
