The college study skills course has given me many different techniques to help me become a better student as well as a better test and quiz taker. I have acquired a variety of different skills throughout the course that will not only help me with my future in college, but have already begun helping me in my high school classes. Some of the techniques I have found to be more useful than others, however. The greatest advantages I have taken from this class are the use of flashcards, time management, and reviewing over notes.
Flash cards have got to be the fastest and easiest way of remembering key terms or ideas. They are beneficial because they are easy to make and help you memorize the terms or ideas faster by the use of repetition. Flash cards are also appealing to people who may not have friends or peers to study or review with. They can be used to study and memorize the material by writing the term or idea on one side and then on the reverse side you write the definition or the main idea of the word. By looking at the front side and studying the reverse side for some time you will begin to memorize the terms. They are very convenient for when you are on the go as well because you can take them anywhere. They are small enough to fit in a purse or bag and they aren’t very big. They are most students’ first choice of study technique.

Plan out your days plans a few weeks in advance. Many people hear about it and think there’s no way it can be done. All you are doing is a rough schedule. Start by writing in your classes, work schedule and any other set plans that you have. Once all those events are in its easier to see what you are working with. Set aside a few hours where you can so you can study, review, etc. This does not need to keep track of every single thing you do. It’s just a rough planner to keep you on track. These are
