In the alarm stage of GAS someone with a mellow and calm personality is likely to either avoid the stress all together due to coping skills, and/or look at it as just an annoyance but not let it get to them too much; such a mentioned in a Type B personality. Someone who is good at coping is less likely to have severe episodes of headaches, anxiety, or sleeping conditions. However, someone with a type A personality is likely to have increased effects. Once reaching resistance, personality plays a role because an individual with a more ideal stress-dealing personality will have an easier time phasing out the stressor and adapting to their bodies change. An individual with a more calm personality will find time to rest and balance relaxation with the stressor. On the other hand, someone with a hostile personality will continue to accelerate the stressor causing the effects to worsen. Lastly if the stressor reaches the exhaustion phase then personality cannot outweigh a life-threatening state.
