Stress
There comes a time in everyone’s life where they are put in a situation that makes them have to deal with stress, appraisal, and coping methods. Many people have very different views and opinions on how to handle such situations. This could either help them or hurt them in the long run, but I believe that how you choose to deal with stress can be a learning experience in itself.
Stress is defined as “a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances.” Stress can determine a multitude of things. It can determine your emotional, psychological, and physical well-being. It can also affect your appraisal. Whether it negatively or positively affects your appraisal determines the types of coping methods one will use. There are many coping methods that one can use, but there are no limits.
One thing that has been a constant source of stress in my life is acne. Not only has it been a problem this year, but ever since middle school. In my opinion it is one of the worst things a teenager or adult can experience. It affects even the littlest things in one’s day to day life. My acne has been a thing that has progressed over time. It seemed the older I got, the worse it got. Around my sophomore year is when it really started to get to me. It bothered to me to the point where I did not want to go out or hangout with people. I stayed at home a lot because I was so self-conscious. At some point we went to the dermatologist and he prescribed me a medicine called Doxycycline. I was on that for quite some time, but it never really did anything. I would wake up every morning and hope that some miracle had happened and my face would be clear, but that never happened. Eventually, it stressed me out so bad that it caused me to become depressed. I stayed at home constantly and slept ninety percent of the time. I was extremely moody,
