Timeline 1950-1959

1950-U.S. President Truman Orders Construction of Hydrogen Bomb- President Truman ordered the construction of the hydrogen bomb so that he could have a weapon to make enemy Japan surrender. Japan was fierce rivals with the USA they had just bombed Pearl Harbor causing us to go to war with them. This also led us to go into war with Germany once again since they were allies with Japan.
1951-Truman Signs Peace Treaty with Japan, Officially Ending WWII- After two Atom bombs dropped on Japan completely wiping out the cities the bomb fell in. This caused Japan to surrender immediately after the bombs were dropped. These also cause horrible mutations and future generations of Japanese people to have skin cancers, and other horrible stuff like mutations.
1952-Car Seat Belts Introduced- The Car Seat Belts was finally introduced which caused so many good things for example they caused less deaths in car accidents. Kept passengers a little safer, so that they would survive the accidents. device designed to secure the occupant of a vehicle against harmful movement that may result during a collision or a sudden stop. A seat belt functions to reduce the likelihood of death or serious injury in a traffic collision by reducing the force of secondary impacts with interior strike hazards, by keeping occupants positioned correctly for maximum effectiveness of the airbag (if equipped) and by preventing occupants being ejected from the vehicle in a crash or if the vehicle rolls over(“history learning site”).
1953-DNA Discovered-Francis Crick discovered DNA in the 1950s which was a good thing cause people could now be able to find out more about murder scenes and also other crimes such as rape, robbery, and murder.
1954- Segregation Ruled Illegal in U.S.- Segregation has always been one of the biggest issues in the United States until now. The Plessey v. Ferguson legitimized the numerous state and local laws that had been created around the United States after the Civil War. Across the country, blacks and whites were legally forced to use separate train cars, separate drinking fountains, separate schools, separate entrances into buildings, and much more. Segregation was the law. On May 17, 1954, the law was changed. In the landmark Supreme Court decision of Brown v. Board of Education, the Supreme Court overturned the Plessey v. Ferguson decision by ruling that segregation was "inherently unequal." Although the Brown v. Board of Education was specifically for the field of education, the decision had a much broader scope (“history learning site”).
1955-Rosa Parks Refuses to Give Up Her Seat on a Bus- Rosa Parks showing that she is rebelling gets arrested because she refuses to give her seat to a white man which is not obeying segregation Laws. On this bus on that day, Rosa Parks initiated a new era in the American quest for freedom and equality (“History learning site”).
1956-Hungarian Revolution- Hungary in 1956 seemed to sum up all that the Cold War stood for. The people of Hungary and the rest of Eastern Europe were ruled over with a rod
