Functionalism perspective is when there is a group of people that agree with the terms of the type of relationship they’re in, a social arrangement for an example. Groups of people could include two people up to a million people. It doesn’t matter on the size of the group.
In the case study “The Structure of marriage” we noticed that the Equilibrium includes the mother and father agrees on different working structure. The father works fulltime; while the mother stays home and a stay at home parent.
We noticed that the Potential for mutual benefit in this case study would be, the father works making the money for the house hold, bringing in an income. While the mother stays at home doing the house chores, errands and taking the kids to school. The allowance would be a Dysfunction in this case study in our opinions, because the mother should be able to spend more money than what he gives her. They are together so they should be able to share the income. Also if she spends too much money on the house hold she would have to go into her allowance. The Evolution in this case would be them sharing the money instead of the husband taking responsibility of the money. There wouldn’t be an allowance anymore instead they would have a certain amount of money for themselves to spend and the other half of the money go towards grocery’s, gas money and all the other essentials. The Functional Interdependence in this case would be the husband and wife working together. The father goes to work and earns the money, while the mother stays at home taking care of the children, the house and prepares the meals. An example of Mechanical Solidarity would be that Cindy and Tom both accept their roles as parents. An example of Organic Solidarity would be that Cindy doesn’t really like the fact that Tom has complete control over her while making all the house hold rules without discussing with Cindy. Conflict Perspective is when there are two different arguments over the same subject. One person could be against, while the other person could be supporting
