When asked about the Dream Act legislation, President Obama once said, “It [the Act] holds them accountable by requiring they pass background checks, pay taxes and a penalty, go to the back of the line, and learn English. It requires everyone to play by the same rules. Which show that’s even the president believes that this group of people have been misunderstood and stereotyped.” The President was defending his decision to stand up for immigrants. This is a group that has many times been misrepresented and misunderstood.
Immigrants have to go through many things to make a living in America. Sometimes these methods aren’t legitimate. Throughout history, the most recent immigrants to this country have almost always confronted some sort of discrimination – often they have had to take the hardest, worst paid jobs, and have difficulty adapting entirely into society. Many people say they are just trying to cheat the system find the fast way to get money. But while all this discrimination is going around you have to think this is the same group of people that are being nanny’s, gardener, farmer and handyman's for the Americans who refuse to do such work. In Arizona they have a right to frisk you if they feel that you look like an alien. “Racial profiling has been a huge issue in this country, thanks to Arizona’s ruthless pursuit of undocumented immigrants. Disusing Arizona over the issue became a favorite national pastime, as we all eagerly watched Governor Jan Brewer get her comeuppance from the Supreme Court. The Court eviscerated much of SB1070, the draconian law that sanctioned the state’s persecution of not just immigrants, but much of its Latino population.”

These people bring more to the plate than the average American because they have a reason to want to work as hard as they do. They work because they don't know what the next day is going to bring.
