What if you were to one day wake up with an uneasy feeling that your not used to. This feeling could go on for long periods of time until you finally go to the doctors to figure out what is wrong. Once your at the doctors you find out that the uneasy feeling you have been having is actually the result of being pregnant, getting sexually transmitted disease or any other issue caused by sexual activity. How would you react to the news of this happening to you? Did you know the risks of what could happen by having sex or did you just ignore the information that was given to you? I believe that all teenagers should be equipped with the proper knowledge to prevent these situations. Today there is a growing issue in todays society that can help be prevented by education in the schools. I believe that schools should require a general sex education class. I believe that with the proper knowledge there will be a chance to start decreasing the number of STD’s, unintended pregnancies, and provide information on healthy relationships. This can be a subject that is hard to teach because each persons views, religion and beliefs on what should be taught can be very different. If students were more informed before they get an STD, have an unintended pregnancy or get in an unhealthy relationship the likeliness of it happening could go down. Even though there may be a possibility of a religious issue with the class or parents do not want their students to be in it, students should have the opportunity to take the class and gain knowledge on the subject. This knowledge would also be helpful since around 63% of teenagers will have had sex by the time that they reach their senior year of high school. “MSN.com” (STD) also known as (STI) is defined as a sexually transmitted disease or sexually transmitted infection is contracted by any type of body fluid from one person to another. Today there are many different types of STD’s that can be contracted by people who may not have the proper knowledge to help protect themselves against them. According to the American sexual Health Association “more then one half of all people will have an STD/STI at some point in their lifetime.” Also according to the American Sexual Health Association “in 2008 there were an estimated 110 million prevalent STI’s among women and men in the US. Of these more than 20% (22.1 million) were among women and men age 15 to 24 years.” If these people were given the proper knowledge about STD’s or STI’s the percentage would more then likely be much less then it is. Some STD’s can be cured by antibiotics such as clymedia but some STD’s like Aids can not be cured and can become fatal very quickly. Even though there are antibiotics for clymedia people without the proper knowledge will not know how hard it can be on ones body. “In the U.S., more than 750,000 girls ages 15-19 become pregnant every year. More than 80 percent of these are unintended pregnancies.” "Lil' Re Online." Lil Re Online. N.p., n.d. Web. 27 Mar. 2014. Fifteen as well as nineteen are both extremely young ages to have children. Could this be prevented? This often occurring mishap may never be able to be completely eliminated from the United States, but there is one thing we can do. We can provide these girls and boys with the knowledge they need to prevent unplanned pregnancies. Not only do children and young adults need knowledge of how to prevent pregnancies at an early age; they also need to know much more. Sex is something that we can’t expect these kids to know about. It isn’t common knowledge that you just know. These children need to know that sex doesn’t just cause babies; sexual intercourse can cause not only that, but sexually transmitted diseases. So we have something called sexual education. “Sex education is a broad term used to describe education about human sexual anatomy, sexual reproduction, sexual intercourse, and other aspects of human sexual behavior. Although some form of sex
and regulations. While President George Bush was in office the only sex education programs that were funded by the government were abstinence only. With many critics and low success rates the Obama administration has changed that with the new health law. Comprehensive sex education is now being funded by the national government to prevent teen pregnancy. The argument around the nation now is does the comprehensive sex education program successfully educate and help the young minds of today? The results…
Sex Education: Social, Political and Cultural According to the Congressional Research Service (CRS), in 2010 9.3% of births in the United States were from teenage mothers, and 20.1% were unmarried. Some school systems do not require some type of sex education, whether it is Comprehensive Sex Education or Abstinence only (AOE). Most states with the highest teen pregnancy rate do not require sex education. The Practice of AOE is politically and culturally motivated. In today’s present state socially…

When we allow ourselves to bring negative energy whether mentally or physically, into that child’s life, we allow corruption to develop. It is our duty in life to provide unconditional love to children as well as each other. Positive energy allows us to look at things in a more compassionate, understanding…

Sex Education: Abstinence-Only or Comprehensive What is sex education? Everyone may have a different concept of what sex education means to them. To me, sex education is informing people about sexual intercourse, abstinence, pregnancies, contraception, and sexual transmitted diseases. A Modern Family System’s Theory to Adequate Sex Education Teen pregnancy rates in the US are extremely high in fact they are 2x higher than England, Whales, or Canada, and 4x higher than those of France or Sweden. Each year 1 million unmarried women become pregnant and 10,000 of those are girls 15 years of age and younger. When young, unwed women become pregnant it usually leads to the father leaving, or not being part of the child raising process, leaving mom to raise the child alone. This usually…
like to discuss more in depth would be on the benefit of separating sexes in the educational atmosphere. Three reasons why this would be helpful would be that it would keep the students focused on their work instead of trying to impress the opposite sex, boys and girls learn better from different teaching methods which could be applied better if they were separated, and it gets students to answer more questions confidently. Although it has many benefits, some may try and oppose it because they feel…
