This quiz has 3 sections, an identification section, a short answer section, and a multiple-choice section.
A. Identifications: You will be given a choice of 2 people or terms. I will ask you to identify 1 of these. (40 points)
Potential Identifications:
*Great Awakening- The great awakening was something that spread throughout the colonies in the 1730’s and the 1740’s. It was a period of revivalism and it decreased the importance of church doctrine. This caused the importance to switch to individuals and their experiences spiritually.
*The Enlightenment- The Enlightenment was an 18th century philosophical movement in Europe that stressed the importance of reason in analyzing and investigating.This led to a critical reappraisal of existing ideas and social institutions, and how they could be changed and improved,through the use of reason.
John Locke- That the John Locke Foundation is named after the 17th century English political philosopher is no mere coincidence; the man was an intellectual titan, one whose thoughts and ideas can be found throughout our country's earliest political documents, including and especially the Declaration of independence.
Proclamation of 1763- The Royal Proclamation of 1763 was issued October 7, 1763, by King George III following Great Britain's acquisition of French territory in North America after the end of the French and Indian War/Seven Years' War, in which it forbade settlers from settling past a line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains

Common Sense- Common Sense is a pamphlet written by Thomas Paine in 1775–76 that inspired people in the Thirteen Colonies to declare and fight for independence from Great Britain in the summer of 1776.
Stamp Act Crisis- The Stamp Act Crisis of 1765-1766 was, therefore, the opening scene in the first act of the drama of the American Revolution. In March 1765, the Parliament of Great Britain passed an act imposing a stamp tax on printed documents—such as newspapers, contracts, licenses, diplomas, etc.—throughout the American colonies.
Articles of Confederation- The Articles of Confederation, formally the Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union, was an agreement among the 13 founding states that established the United States of America as a confederation of sovereign states and served as its first constitution.
