School Prayer
John wants prayer in school, and Mary does not. Describe a compromise position you think John and Mary might agree on, and identify any problems that position might encounter. The happy medium that I feel would suit John and Mary’s opposition, is that the thought of a “silent moment” during the start of school and if need be at another time of day, so there is no conflict about not respecting another’s worship time. This compromise can allow people who are atheist or just do not want to worship and are not expose to prayer. They can have a moment of silence to reflect on whatever, and no matter what your worship maybe, an individual can worship in silence without offence or be offending. As most compromises, there are the possibilities of problems it might still arrive. A religion that have physical acts, or props for the way they worship, or the time of day, and so on. When people are asked to generalize a behavior, they have come accustom to doing in full is not easily accepted. How much time should be allowed for the “moment of silence”? There are endless reason as to why it would not work out, I say give it a shot to see if can be implemented in a trial and error run for both sides to be fair to the others indifference. My personal beliefs may show the bias I feel on this topic. I am a firm believer in the power of spirituality. When I went to school, we said prayer and pledged our allegiance, and we had to have respect for authorities. My
