Synopsis
The Montague and Capulet are enemies. They have hated each other for over many years and everyone in Verona takes side from the heads of the family to the servants.
In the beginning, the Capulet servants start a fight with the Montague servants. Benvolio a friend of Romeo fights with Tybalt, the nephew of the Capulet’s wife. Prince Escalus has to come and stop the brawl. Capulet and Montague are blamed for causing 3 arguments, disturbing the quiet streets of Verona. Capulet laves with the prince with Montague, his wife and Benvolio are left who talk about Romeo. Meanwhile in the Capulet household, lady Capulet and Nurse talk to Juliet about marring Paris the noble kinsmen to the prince when she turns 14.
After Benvolio goes to Romeo and he says he loves a girl called Rosaline. At the time of this they meet a servant from the Capulet household who needs help with reading the invitation list of the Capulet’s party which Romeo read for him. The servant doesn’t realise that they are Montague and invites them to the party. Benvolio and Romeo agree to go. Benvolio wanted to outsmart this Rosaline and make Romeo see that there are going to be more girls in the ball who are prettier.
Benvolio, Mercutio and Romeo arrive at the Capulet masquerade ball wearing masks but Romeo takes it off that’s when Tybalt sees Romeo and tells the Capulet. Tybalt is furious but Capulet doesn’t care because he doesn’t want to make a fuss about it when the guests are here.
Unbelievably Romeo notices a beautiful girl. He takes her hand and kisses her. Her name was Juliet. They both instantly fall in love but they realise that they are the opposite families who are arch enemies. Romeo thinks of Juliet and climbs over the wall to leap into the Capulet orchard while Mercutio and Benvolio look for him. In Juliet’s backyard Romeo sees Juliet appear aloft at the window and calls her the sun. Juliet doesn’t know that Romeo is there and doesn’t hear him. Juliet talks to herself and saying that she has fallen for Romeo and that she won’t call herself a Capulet if he doesn’t want her to. Romeo responds to her plea, surprising Juliet, since she thought she was alone. They both confess their love for each other and plan to get married. Romeo promises Juliet that he will go to Friar Lawrence who is reliable and secret and let her know about the marriage
Juliet’s nurse is sent to Romeo to see if everything has gone well and when Juliet should be at the church for their marriage. Juliet is told that she is to go to the church in the morning. They get married and are announced husband and wife.
Benvolio and Mercutio are walking on a street talking to each other when Tybalt approaches Benvolio and Mercutio and asks to speak with one of them. Annoyed, Mercutio begins to taunt and provoke him. Romeo enters. Tybalt turns his attention from Mercutio to Romeo, and calls Romeo a villain Tybalt challenges Romeo to a dual but Romeo doesn’t want to for Juliet’s sake. Instead Mercutio fights Tybalt and dies. In rage, Romeo kills Tybalt and he is banished from Verona by prince Escalus for the 4th time disturbing the street of Verona. Juliet finds out and is distraught that he is banished from Verona.
Romeo has to hide somewhere so he goes to Friar Lawrence’s cell as that would be the last place they would look for him. Then Juliet’s nurse turns up at the cell where Romeo offers t o stab himself but nurse snatches the dagger away from him and tells him that Juliet still loves him.
Meanwhile in Capulet’s house Capulet and his wife have a conversation with Paris for delaying his marriage to Juliet because they are in grief of the death of Tybalt.
Capulet and his wife go to Juliet’s room to discuss things about the marriage to Paris. Juliet wants to delay the marriage more.
After hearing that he is to be exiled. He collapses on the floor. Romeo refuses to listen to reason and threatens to kill himself. Juliet, on the other hand, displays significant progress
