The literary piece I have chosen to analyze is called “The Road Not Traveled “by Robert Frost (1916).This poem is most frequently referenced in public speeches and personal achievements. The theme of this poem is choices. The speaker approaches two roads in the yellow woods and is faced with a decision to make regarding which road to travel. In this paper I will explain the narrative theme and how it associates with the journey of life. Life is full of choices and decisions and this poem describes exactly that.
The theme is described as a representation of the idea behind the story. In chapter seven of the text it states that to identify with a story’s theme it is best to look beyond the plot. The plot tells what happens in the story, but the theme tells what the story is about. (Augen125.10.2). the theme of this poem is based on the right choice as to which road the speaker will choice to take and in his decision be able to agree that this was the best fit for him. Through the descriptive word choice that Frost uses, he takes us on a journey through decision making. In lines 1-6 Frost expresses “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both and be one traveler, long I stood and looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth.” I believe that Frost uses the yellow woods to represent the journey of life. I think that when the character expresses the importance of only being one person he can only travel one road at a time. He is expressing his concerns of doing something one step at a time. The decision he is faced with represents life changes giving him the ability to seek which road will work better for him.
In lines (7-11) “Then took the other, as just as fair, and having perhaps the better claim, because it was grassy and wanted wear; though as for that the passing there had worn them really about the same.” He analyzes both roads in front of him and chooses to take the road less traveled. The description of the grassy and wanted wear represents that both paths had wear on them but the one that had less footprints won over the one that deep in prints. He sees it as an opportunity to take a risk. The risk allows the character to compare which of the two roads has the better opportunity. Which in the end of the poem he was most pleased with.
The character in this poem is battling with a life changing decision that can ultimately change the outcome of his life. The character expresses his concerns in the poem regarding the

personal personification on The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost. the road not taken to me is an analysis of thoughts on regret and rationalization of making decisions for life. Frost was inspired when coming to a fork in the road. Frost made a big deal about what road to take, even though they looked the same. Once choosing a path, he could not stop contemplating what the outcomes would’ve been if he did infact decide to take the other road. The content of this poem…
Making Choices: The Road Not Taken Rosheda Dillon Liberty University Making Choices: The Road Not Taken Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken,” the narrator in conflicted by which road that he wants to take. The poem is a very simple poem but the metaphor for the road being a choice in his life is not very simple. The road that he chooses to take is the road that determines his path in life. metaphor, it seems as if “The Road Not Taken” gets memorized without really being read. For this it has died the cliché’s un-death of trivial immortality. But you yourself can resurrect it from zombie-hood by reading it—not with imagination, even, but simply with accuracy. Of the two roads the speaker says “the passing there / Had worn them really about the same.” In fact, both roads “that morning lay / In leaves no step had trodden black.” Meaning: Neither of the roads is less traveled by. lonely person in a forest. Besides this, the speaker is always comparing the two roads, which explains how hard this decision is to take and how crucial it could be. Then why would this choice be so challenging if the text itself suggests the protagonist is an individualist? 2 To get a good life (socially and financially), people have to blend in; and if they don’t, they could miss opportunities. In “The Road Not Taken”, the speaker faces a difficult dilemma: Taking the path to blend in or taking…
“The road not taken” in a metaphorical and literal manner there is critical decision to be made. While remorse was the emotion being represented by traveling through nature, the setting was portrayed. The temperament on both poems is alike, lonely and puzzled. Again, while both poems snap a reflecting state of mind, nature serves as the symbolic journey to show life and emotions. In the poem, “The road not taken” the speaker is walking through the woods where he comes to stop as “Two roads diverged…

“The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost is a piece of poetry that partakes in multiple signs of symbolism such as “ Two roads diverged in a yellow wood”(line 1) and “sorry I could not travel both”(line 2). These two sentences tell me that the narrator of the poem is stuck with a hard decision in life and that he has to choose one. Each road in this poem is a symbol of the narrator’s path or choice to his decision. After the narrator sees the two roads he looks down to wear it bends into the under…
“The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost made me think about the think all the “roads” people take in there whole life time. It made me think “What if?” The thing I liked about it is that it changed meaning depending on what mood you were in when you read it, if you were sad when you read it means just do what everyone else is doing because if you break away from the crowd you will definitely fail but if you’re in a lighter mood it means that if you break away from the crowd and become independent you…
