Material had its own properties. Each material is made with different substances. Some are more porous than others. The 3 materials I will be using are paper, plastic and silk or nylon.
Each material will create a different drag when falling. A falling object with a lot of drag will travel at a lower speed than an object with little drag. This is because the air drag (air resistance) opposes the falling object’s motion.
In Newton’s third law a force is a push or a pull on an object. When an object moves through the air it has to move the air molecules out of the way. This creates a resistance force, or drag, on the moving object.
Newton’s second law of motion is applied to analyze the motion of objects that are falling under gravity and air resistance. This brings be back to the drag force of air resistance cancels out weight on a falling object.
All objects free fall at the same rate of acceleration. Free fall is a type of motion in which the only force acting upon an object is gravity. Objects that are free falling do not encounter a significant force of air resistance they are only falling with gravity.
Air resistance is the result of an object colliding with air molecules. The actual amount of air resistance encountered by a product depends on many factors. The 2 most common factors are the speed of the object and the cross-sectional area of the object. Increased speed results in increased air
