The Cause and Effect of AIDS in the World Today The cause and effect on AIDS has brought a big impact to our nation and on many lives that are affected by this disease each and every day. AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) is caused by a virus called HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) it affects the immune system, causing weakness to the body system to fight diseases. AIDS was discovered in the USA in the early 1980s, when a “number of gay men in New York and California suddenly began to develop rare opportunistic infections and cancers that seemed stubbornly resistant to any treatment”. (Grmek Mirko D). During this time “12,000 American” (Jefferson David and Ramin Setoodeh page 2) had already died from this disease because there was no cure. “Three out of ten studies for injecting drugs user, one out of three partners of injected users, two out three for STDs Clinic patient”( Timiun, Godwin Aondohemba 120).People with the AIDS” were routinely evicted from their homes, fired from jobs; denied health insurance and gays were demonized by extreme right wing”. (Jefferson David and Ramin Setoodeh 2). This outrage has brought a difference to our lives, our history, our culture and the world we live in today. When the AIDS went national “a ton of people said that whoever gets AIDS deserves to have AIDS, deserves to literally suffer all the physical pain that the virus carries with it” (Jefferson David and Ramin Setoodeh2). Being diagnosed with AIDS, there are no common symptoms because you can be affect by this disease for several of years and be perfectly normal. The only way to find out if you have AIDS is to get tested. But the effect of this disease is that it affects the immune system and does sever damage to it. There are several ways that AIDS can be transmitted through blood, body fluids, breast milk, vaginal secretion, and child’s birth. Some of the common ways to transmit AIDS are oral sex, injection
