Queen Elizabeth I: Research Paper Queen Elizabeth I was born on September seventh, 1533. Elizabeth became Queen of England in 1558, when she was only twenty-five years old, which was probably overwhelming for her at the time. Queen Elizabeth I was and still is one of the most famous rulers in history. She had many impacts on people all around the world. Many people think of Queen Elizabeth I as a hero. Reasons Queen Elizabeth I is a hero is because she was brave and had high self esteem, because she brought wealth to her country, and because she survived a harsh, difficult, childhood. Bravery and high self esteem are good traits for any hero to have. Elizabeth ruled alone, single for nearly half a century. That would take a lot of courage because usually rulers have a spouse to rely on, but not Elizabeth. “…Elizabeth the Warrior Queen…” (Sain) Bravery and strength is like being a warrior in many ways. To be brave, strength and courage are also needed. “I know I have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart of a king, a king of England too; …any prince of Europe should dare to invade the border of my realm.” (Sain). “…A woman so strong, a politician so skillful, a monarch so magnetic that she impressed herself…” (McGeary) Obviously, Queen Elizabeth had high self esteem if she can believe in her strength this much. She really had to have this characteristic, because there was no king. This definitely shows off her bravery, that she could rule alone, and make very important decisions on her own. She never panicked, and she was never afraid to take risks if she knew it was the right thing to do for her country. England adored Elizabeth and it only got better when she brought wealth back to them. “…She inherited a bankrupt nation…” (English History) That’s exactly what she did too. When Elizabeth became Queen of England in 1558, England was poor and in a bad economical situation. By the end of her ruling, the situation was completely different. She had brought England back up to the top, and to this day England is still one of the wealthiest and most powerful countries in the world. “Even her supporters believed her situation was dangerous and uncertain.” (English History) People greatly supported Elizabeth, but still sometimes felt it would be hard for her to accomplish some of her goals, especially because she was single.
