Summary

Ichabod was a strict teacher but not a cruel one; he did not make a lot of money by teaching. He lived in his student’s house few times a week. Along with this, Ichabod made some extra money by teaching singing lessons. He really scared of the ghost stuff but he liked to hear about those stories. He used to sing when the time he feel afraid of the ghost. Ichabod thought woman can make a lot of trouble, but he’s heart had been taken by a girl who named Katrina. Katrina Van Tassel, a beautiful young woman of eighteen, is one of Ichabod’s students. She is also the only child of Baltus Van Tassel, one of the more successful and rich farmers in the area. Ichabod quickly planed to take her hand in marriage. Ichabod was not alone in his attentions to Katrina; another man who named Brom Bones also really liked Katrina. Brom had the great skill at horseback riding—all of which make him something of a village hero.

Brom has already scared off many of Katrina’s other suitors, but Ichabod was hard to get rid of. Brom filled the school house with smoke, trained a dog to follow Ichabod around howling, and sets many other pranks to frustrate and humiliate Ichabod. One day, a messenger comes to the schoolhouse to invite Ichabod to a party at the Van Tassels’. Ichabod was imagining all the beautiful things that might happen to him and Katrina in that party.
