Thousands of dogs are suffering everyday. Horrible memories flash inside their heads. Memories of maggot-infested food and feces covered water. Memories of their mom being taken away and never seeing her again. This is a normal day in a puppy mill. Puppy mills are horrible places where they abuse and kill dogs everyday without ever thinking about it again. The life of a healthy dog in a loving family may be a desirable one. You would get to eat a lot, sleep a lot and play a lot. Plus, you wouldn’t have to go to work or live on a strict schedule. You would think that the life of a dog would be relaxing and quite enjoyable. But there is something you don’t know. And it’s important. It could save a dog’s life, or many. What you don’t know is that there is a secret, miserable life that many dogs live or have lived in. They are filthy, cramped places. They are areas where dogs are bred and bred, inhumanly. And it’s all for money. They are called puppy mills, and we need to do something about them. After all, dogs are called “man’s best friend”. Would you treat your best friend that way? Reason 2: The food The food that these dogs put into their bodies is often not the most nutritious. They do not get the proper vitamins and nutrients, which they need to live long, healthy and happy lives. The food that they are served is usually filled with bugs and other vermin. How would you feel if you eating food like that? They deserve better. Reason 3: The breeding The mother dog starts to breed at the age of 6 months. This is a very early, unhealthy age to begin breeding. They are bred and bred, with almost no rest between litters. This means that they are bred about 4 or 5 times a year. When they can be bred no longer, which is at about 4 or 5 years of age, they are shot or bludgeoned. After death they are dumped in a land fill. They were never cared for, never loved, and now they won’t ever be thought of again. Reason 4: The pups
Imagine being with your mom for only a few days and then leaving her forever…
That is what these pups live through. They are taken away from their mothers and then stuck in a cage with other puppies. This is not fair, and not healthy. Reason 5: The ride The journey to a pet shop is
