Husky

The husky originated in Siberia, Russia. The husky’s original function was sled pulling, but now people use these dogs for sled racing. The husky is about 20 to 25 inches in height, and they weigh about 45 to 50 pounds. The husky is very playful, and they need lots of exercise The husky will provide the owner with “an adventure, but not a good one”. The people who bred this dog are the Chukchi, who lived in northeast Asia. The dog was used for transportation and companionship by the Chukchi. The Chukchi also let the husky sleep with them, providing a warm, furry advantage in the cold winters. They were brought to Alaska to race in the 1900’s, and they became extremely popular in 1925. The Siberian husky was first introduced to Canada, and then the United States. In 1930, the ACK told people about this breed of dog. When World War II took place, Siberian huskies worked for the U.S Army’s search and rescue. Because of this deed, the husky gained recognition. Now, this dog is a beloved pet and sled dog. The husky is said to be an escape artist, so it needs to have a fenced-in area to exercise in. The husky is not suitable for everyone. Many people get huskies for themselves because of the good looks on the dog, but they later see that it is difficult to care for them, making this breed common in shelters. Because people adore this dog, puppy mills, a place where people force animals to give birth for money, and backyard breeders, people who take on the responsibility of breeding an animal to their own home, have started making business by multiplying the population of this dog. This is the cause why some huskies develop odd traits in their personality. The husky does well in colder climates, and will shed tons of hair if living in a warm environment. If the husky is left alone at home or outside, they can destroy the home if they want to, and may dig up plants and flowers, so the husky is better behaved when being looked after.
The bad thing about this mischievous breed is that they howl a lot, and that they rarely, if ever, bark. They are bad watchdogs. Because they welcome anyone into the house, even robbers and people that they do not know. The husky, if allowed, will try to escape every chance they get. They can be very quick and quiet about it, so before the owner has a chance to realize, the dog will be chasing squirrels all around town. The husky is health, but have some health issues that are common. Some of these health issues are cataracts, Corneal Dystrophy, and Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). A cataract is a condition when the dog’s eyes have a cloudy appearance, making it tougher for them to see. They can be surgically removed to improve vision. Cataracts resemble a single-colored eye, most often white, and look like eyes of a dog with PRA. Corneal Dystrophy is a condition that
