Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Post-traumatic stress disorder is a psychological disorder that has trouble many different people throughout the world. Post-traumatic stress disorder also known as PTSD, is a type of anxiety disorder that can occur after you've seen or experienced a traumatic event that involved the threat of injury or death. About 24.5 Americans have had PTSD at any given time. PTSD can happen at any age to anybody. Many things can be the causing factors in giving someone PTSD. Events such as war, assault, rape, terrorism, abuse, and assault. PTSD can be caused from things such as a terrible car accident. Many people were affected by the 9/11 terrorist attacks so therefore many people could have gotten PTSD either because they had lost someone or seen the horror. Nobody knows why, but some traumatic events cause PTSD for some but not for others. There are many symptoms of Post-traumatic stress disorder. Symptoms are broken into three main categories, reliving or flashbacks, avoiding, and arousal. PTSD can cause flashbacks, nightmares, and hallucinations. These may give the person that has PTSD high anxiety and uncomfortable reactions to situations that remind them of the event. PTSD also causes symptoms of emotional numbing, making people feel like they don’t care about anything, giving them that depressed feeling. A feeling of being alone or detached, and show less moods. People with PTSD feel like they cant get away from the traumatic
