1. intelligence is the ability to learn from new experiences, solve problems, and adapt to new situations. 2. iq tests used to be the stanford binet tests that measured IQ but they worked only for children and not adults so they changed it into two tests, WAIS and WISC 3. savant syndrome is the syndrome with an enlarged hippocampus and down syndrome is where there is an extra 21 chromosome. both are intelligence disabilities = IQ <70 4. 3 types of intelligence: Analytical Intelligence: intelligence that is assessed by intelligence tests Creative Intelligence: intelligence that allows us to adapt to new situations and generate new ideas Practical Intelligence: intelligence that is considered street smarts (everyday tasks) 5. Gender Differences in IQ Girls have fluent language, larger vocab, can find things, can recognize emotions, can spell better, are more sensitive. Boys have better math problem solving but not as good math comprehension. 11.
