Executive Summary
Progressive Waste Solutions (PWS) is a leading international company in waste management and diversion services. The company has merged with other Canadian and American companies such as BFI Canada and Waste Services Inc. Being the third largest, non-hazardous and full-service waste solutions firm in North America, Progressive Waste Solutions has started many different projects that distinguish them from their competitors and attract clients and consumers to their business model. Recently, PWS has partnered with TerraCycle so they can offer a recycling solution, called "Zero Waste System" that makes recycling non-organic waste easier for their customers. Progressive Waste Solution is highly focused on keeping track of productivity-based operating metrics and also managing their business in order to optimize the returns against their asset base. Progressive has employed to market its value proposition are highly geared towards customer interaction and creating a public image that promotes pro-social activity in regards to the management and diversion of physical waste. Along with this, the company looks healthy financially compared to other competitors in the industry, however there are some areas of finance that the company can improve in. There are many legal and regulatory, economic, technological, social, and global factors that will play a role in the adaptations for PWS in the next five years. Some of these adaptations include maintaining relationships with NFP’s, implementing more eco-friendly services such as technologically advanced waste reduction facilities, increasing community involvement, and continually integrating Canadian and American operations.

Introduction
In 2001, BFI Canada Inc. acquired BFI U.S. Inc., which marked the origin of North America’s third largest waste management organization, rebranded under the name “Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd.” (PWS). The firm merged with IESI Corp. in 2005; Waste Services Inc. in 2010; and most recently with TerraCycle Canada in 2014 (PWS, 2014). It is important to note that Progressive Waste Solutions is a limited corporation that provides waste management services for residential areas, businesses, and government institutions. Currently, the firm’s services consist of the disposal and diversion of solid waste, landfill management, and other unique services such as equipment rentals, waste audits, etc. for over four million customers.
Progressive Waste Solutions and its team of 7,500 employees conduct its operations out of Canada, the southern and north-eastern United States. The firm actively positions itself in various communities throughout these regions and works with TerraCycle to improve existing programs for the extraction of recyclable items from general waste that is destined for landfills. The addition of TerraCycle has perfectly demonstrated PWS’ current mission of “truly being an innovative leader in the communities [they] serve” (PWS, 2014). In terms of value proposition, PWS makes great use of its chain of command, assuring that its collection and delivery services and other processes are completed properly and on time.
