Prolife essay Abortion is the termination of pregnancy before the baby is capable of independent life. Therefore, it is the termination of a person's life. Abortion ends a pregnancy by destroying and disposing of the developing child. It stops the beating of an innocent child's heart, which has already begun to beat. Most abortions occur between 6-10 weeks. At the time in the baby's life all parts of the brain and spinal cord are formed, the heart pumps blood to every part of the body. Different type of abortions includes surgical, chemical, and partial birth. The most common surgical abortions are vacuum aspiration which is performed with a machine that uses a vacuum to suck the baby out of the uterus. Another surgical type is dilation and curettage in this procedure the mother's cervix is dilated and a curette which a long rod is scraped along the sides of the uterus to dislodge the baby.
