This report is written to examine the effects of abortion among teenagers as a number of issues has cause government of countries around the globe to analyse the relationship between the two.

Abortion has begun ever since 1500 B.C.E. according to the earliest recorded evidence of abortion from the Ebers Papyrus, which is an ancient Egyptian medical text. Firstly, abortion contributes to the prevention of unwanted birth among teenagers as the teenagers are given a choice to keep or not to keep the baby. The teenagers can make decision in taking responsibilities of parenthood after the consideration over the financial responsibilities, age or life concerns. The pregnant teenagers may be unready to take the responsibilities being a mother due to their young age and lack of reliable partner to raise a child. Sometimes teenagers enter a casual sexual relationship without prospect of marriage and leads to unwanted pregnancy. Young couples might prefer to develop a stable financial security first before having a child so they are able to provide better care for their future children. Most of the teenagers who cannot receive proper financial support from their parents or partners can choose to abort their children as the cost of raising a child is unaffordable for the pregnant adolescent. Abortion provides a second chance for the non-married pregnant girls to have a better life as their pregnancy may lead to the embarrassment, humiliation and harassment from the society. The teenagers getting pregnant at an early age may lose the opportunity to pursue higher education due to extra responsibility and must make a choice between continuing their education which they need to survive economically or dropping out of their schools to take care of the baby.
