What is critical thinking? A psychological term that is used to define when someone is thinking in a disciplined, clear, rational, reasonable and open minded manner towards every fact of a unique situation.
What does it mean to be a critical thinker?
Someone that takes all factors of a situation into consideration before they make a serious decision.
Is it a good thing?
- Critical Thinking is good in some situations where there is a lot to process. It allows you to analyse every fact and piece of information within an issue or complication and overcome it in a way. (Thin Slicing)
Critical thinking involves suspension of judgement and a healthy scepticism
It is more than a specific set of cognitive skills; it is also a composite of skill, knowledge and attitudes.
It is the intellectually disciplines process of actively and skilfully conceptualizing, applying, analysing, synthesizing and evaluating information fathers from, or generated by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning or communication, as a guide to belief and action.
Critical thinking is to continually question assumptions of right and wrong. This is because critical thinking is not static – it does not bring a person to a position of finality or conclusion.
