Environmental Analysis-Internal Environment Proper evaluation of a company's financial statement is very helpful in understanding the company's internal environment. To further assist in understanding the financial statement of a company different types of ratio may be used. Ratios are helpful in the understanding of financial analysis because they seize vital components of the economic performance of the business. Three of the ratios used to determine Pfizer's internal status are profitability, liquidity, and financial leverage. First, profitability evaluation is the assessment of the likelihood that a company will provide investors with a particular rate of return on their investment (Marshall, 2003). The primary focus of financial reporting is on earnings and growth, so it is clear earnings per share (EPS) are the most popular of the financial ratios. The (EPS) measures companies "bottom line" earnings available to the holder of a share of common stock (Marshall, 2003).
