This month I read a wonderful book called “The Death and life of Charlie St. Cloud” by Ben Sherwood. It was published by Bantam Dell, copy right date is 2010, and there are 306 pages. Ben Sherwood is a non-fiction and fiction writer. His first book was published in 1996 it was called “Red Mercury” the book I read was made into a wonderful film in 2010. His most popular book is called, “The Man Who Ate 474”. “The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud” begins in Essex County and describes Charlie when he is in high school. He wasn’t the brightest boy, but he was the most promising. Charlie’s mom was a nurse so she worked late and Charlie had to watch his kid brother Sam. Charlie had other plans to go to a Red Socks game baseball was his brothers and his favorite thing to watch and play. So they borrowed Mrs. Pung’s wagon. After the game the two brothers got into a car crash, a paramedic named Florio found them and saved Charlie. Unfortunately Sam died. When Charlie was saved he left his brother but he made a promise to play baseball with him every day at sunset. Charlie kept that promise and was able to see Sam at the cemetery and that became Charlie’s life. He got a job at the cemetery and worked until sunset and he could play ball with his unchanged kid brother in spirit form. After a while Charlie was able to see other spirits to in the grave yard. After a couple years Florio died and Charlie buried him and sees his spirit at his funeral. Florio told him there was a reason god gave him a second chance and to think about it. Charlie met a girl named Tess at the cemetery and he invited her to dinner at his cabin. He liked her, but he found out something wrong. Tess was a spirit he couldn’t tell at all she looked normal. Tess Carol was a sailor and she set sail to race around the world Charlie also was a sailor, but that ended once Sam died he never leaves the cemetery. Tess’s boat was gone for days and she was missing. Charlie knew what his second chance was he knew what he had to do and after almost giving up he found her. It took a couple days for Tess to
