Even when the resources are available, political leaders often are reluctant to use them on ‘those people”’. Because of medical advancements death are down. “But they are not down to safe levels” NPR commentator Richard Knox says. Knox also pointed out “that while there are 20 percent fewer deaths because of medical advances, for every person put on treatment, two more become infected”. It is the government’s responsibility in a sense to help those affected by AIDS/HIV and the government has many organizations. Some of the organizations are Department of State, which provide human resources, tracking budgets within the accounting system and Providing office space, communication, and information technology services. The U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator reports directly to the Secretary of State. At the direction of the Secretary, the Department of State's support for the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator. Another organization is Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Its main goal is to protect public health and safety through the control and prevention of disease, injury, and disability. The government also funds a lot of money into the prevention of AIDS/HIV. But it is not only the government’s responsibility to help those affected by AIDS. People should be more aware of this epidemic. People should be more aware when it come to sex such as when you are an adult go at it at the safest approach which might be abstinence or faithful monogamy. Don’t have sex until you can form a stable and lasting relationship for teenagers and use condoms during sex is also one of the safest ways not to contract AIDS .
