Organizational Systems and Structures Evaluation Quality is something that every health care agency strives to achieve. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) suggests that health care organizations develop a culture of safety such that an organization's care processes and workforce are focused on improving the reliability and safety of care for patients (Groves, Meisenbach, & Scott-Cawiezell, 2011). In order to address an issue related to health care quality, it is important to look at the frameworks that will analyze an organization and identify opportunities to improve performance. The purpose of this paper is to provide a description of an organization and an analysis of the following: mission, vision and values, strategic plan, goals, Organizational Priorities and Investments HMHP has organizational priorities to invest in the future, provide the highest quality of care to the patients, the community, and the employees (HMHP, 2013). One priority that HMHP strives to do is to educate and promote healthy behaviors to the people in the community. HMHP has invested $203 million dollars into construction and equipment improvements for all three hospitals over the next five years. This includes a new state of the art labor and delivery unit and an additional 72 beds to one of its facilities. A 128-slice CT scanner and biplane imaging equipment have been purchased to benefit the patients (HMHP, 2013). Charity makes up one of the largest components of HMHP demonstrated community benefit. The cost of HMHP caring for charity care patients was more than $27 million in 2012 (HMHP, 2013). Also, in preventative care, HMHP has opened a new breast care center with state of the art mammography technology. Organizational Culture Culture provides an organization's members with a framework for understanding and making sense of their work environment and experiences (Bellot, 2011). Within HMHP, the leaders and staff adhere to the mission of helping people who are poor and underserved. No one is turned away for treatment.
