Winfery the Winner!

You got your snacks ready, your ears and your head are killing you from all the loud screams saying “I love you Oprah you’re my idol!" and noise surrounding you. You’re all probably wondering what will this woman say to inspire the world this time. Then the music comes on and she walks on stage like her confident self.

The room becomes hectic with noise from every corner and she says “hey guys! Thank you all for coming!” She also says “I’ve got prizes for all my audience!” Your mind fills with excitement.

Oprah’s primary life

Oprah Winfery was born in Kosciusko Mississippi, on January 29, 1954. She didn’t know her mother, so she spent her first years with grandmother, Hattie Mae Lee. Hattie Mae Lee encouraged Oprah to love books by teaching her how to read at the age of 3. Oprah started by reading the Bible at a young age and eventually began speaking at her church. Oprah moved on to performing memorized verses to her grandmother's friends. Oprah started kindergarten at 5 already knowing how to read and write -- she was quickly moved into the first grade. Her mother was in the north looking for jobs. Her treated her more then a daughter and Oprah loved the support.
At 6, Oprah's grandmother became ill and she was sent to live with her mother in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There she lived with her mother and half-sister, Patricia, in a boardinghouse. After living with her mother for just over a year, Oprah was sent to live with her father and step-mother, Zelma, in Nashville. Her life was great there and she also got her own bed and a bedroom from the first time.

The worse to come…

Oprah then moved to live with her mother in Milwaukee. At age 9 Oprah and her siblings were left with her cousin for babysitting. At that time he was 19 years old and he molested her. She would be raped and then taken out to the zoo and for some ice-cream and was told to keep it a secret. She followed her orders and didn’t tell anyone about her cousin molesting her. He was the first to molest her but she also had a second molester and that was a family friend. Unbelievably she also had a third molester which was her uncle. Without receiving much direction from her mother, and helpless to discuss her sexual abuse, Oprah resorted to acting out -- skipping school, dating, stealing money from her mother, and running away. Her mother Vernita could not handle Oprah's behavior any longer and sent her back to live with her father in Nashville. At 14, Oprah discovered she was pregnant, though she hid this news from her parents until she was in her 7th month. The day she told her father the news of her pregnancy, she went into early labor and delivered her baby that day -- a boy, who died within 2 weeks of his birth. This was devastating but it also gave Oprah a chance to restart her life with better choices
